Sir Mr. Moose of Chanhassen is doing great, has been working on upland game and on water. He has been to the game farm 3 times and is sniffing them out and doing very good retrieving to hand. He is fearless on water and will retrieve anything from very short to extremely long returns and also returns to hand. He returned his first goose on water last weekend! He is without a doubt the smartest lab I have ever been around, he is just over 6 months old and is acting like an adult dog. Here are some pictures of Moose.

Morgan

"Morgan has been great since day one! She is a great family dog and I expect her to be a great hunting dog as well. We are going to ND duck hunting in October!"

That was a quote from Morgan's owner. If you would like to call him for a reference, give Puppy Dave a call and he can arrange that for you.

Here are some pictures of Morgan.

This is Morgan, what a beautiful dog!

Bart

Here is some information about what Bart is doing:

Bart is now 6 1/2 months old and is approximately 65 - 70 pounds. He has a wonderful temperament, is very easy going, and responds well to training. He will sit on command for as long as we want until he is released. He heals well while walking, yet know the difference when he is in the field chasing pheasants. He has had an opportunity to chase and retrieve pheasants during training, and he does well on both. If a pheasant stops in front of him he will point. He will do double retrieves on land and water, although sometimes the puppy in him will take over and he will go from one to the other and try to retrieve both. He is a wonderful pet and companion and we are looking forward to hunting him this fall and we think he will hunt well at 8 months of age.

Al Freiberg "Bart is an excellent dog. During his training at Elk River Kennels I was shooting over him, with him retrieving at 4 months!"

Here are his pictures from September 4, 2005.

EMAILS

Hey Dave, Dave T. here from Hutchinson MN. Just wanted to give you a little update on my puppy and the hunting season. If you don't remember Brandy(my dog) is a female from Babe and Jake, born Feb 16 2005. Al trained her for me for two months( Aug & Sept).

Up until this last weekend with the exception of one great retrieve on opening day I was beginning to wonder about whether she would be a good hunting dog or not. I usually hunt with about six guys and everybody has a dog and all she's been wanting to do was try and play with all the other dogs instead of hunt. But like I said until this last weekend that all changed. On Saturday three of us went hunting on some property that we own down by Comfrey MN. Well she finally put her nose down to the ground and managed to kick up a lot of birds. Best of all she retrieved four of the six birds we killed. I was so impressed and baffled at the same time I couldn't believe it because it was like a light turned on and away she went. My friends said that they thought she did a great job and they were impressed with what she did. Best of all we went back on Sunday and she did even better. This time four of us went hunting and she retrieved six of the seven birds we shot.

Most of all, I would have to say, that she is probably the best marking dog I've ever seen. When a hen gets up and I tell her no, she stands there and watches the bird until it disappears, in fact I think if I let her go after it landed she would go over and find it without a problem. She's had two great impressive retrieves so far. First on opening day a rooster got up to my left, Brandy was on my right. I shot once and wounded the bird, it kept on flying to one of our blockers about 350 yards away. Brandy started to run in the same direction but I stopped her because the blocker dropped the bird about 15 yards out in front of him and it looked like he could go right over and pick up the bird without a problem. About five minutes later without finding the bird two of our guys in the party walked over to help him find the bird with a couple of dogs. Five minutes later they asked everybody to come over to help find the bird. Buy now Brandy was whining so much I just sent her on her own to go and try to find the bird, after a mad dash she immediately went right to the spot and picked up the bird and returned it to me.

But most impressive was this last weekend. We were walking in some CRP about five to six feet tall when she put up a rooster between my friend and I and it flew to our left and behind us a little. I couldn't shoot because it stayed low at first and my friend was in my line of fire. He took a couple of shots and missed. Our last friend to our left took two shots also, finally dropping the bird on the last shot, it dropped about another twenty five yards to his left. He started to take his dog over to the spot were the bird dropped when he looked down and found Brandy delivering the bird to his hand. I couldn't believe it with the grass being so tall I never thought she would have been able to follow that bird and retrieve it.
